(obvious) – Red light cameras increase accidents
Well, DUH. People will generally be more likely to brake hard at a camera-controlled intersection rather than risk a ticket. That tendency just gets worse when some city authorities actually decrease the length of the yellow light in order to increase revenue from the cameras. Read more over at Pistonheads.

New Top Gear season has started
I’m assuming if you’re reading this blog, you already know about Top Gear. If not, you *need* to watch it. NOW. The new season has just started up, and while it’s technically not available in the US (Discovery Channel was showing it for a time, then pulled it for now but plans to relaunch it soon), fans of the show can easily find it available via torrents. They’re kicking off the season with a supercar comparison…including my absolute favorite, the Pagani Zonda (a name I just love to say!).

Twin turbo Lamborghini Diablo
Sure, you could buy a Bugatti for $1.5M, but if 1000hp is really all you want, why not just turbocharger your Lamborghini Diablo instead? The drool factor of this machine is immense. Twin turbos feed the 5.7 liter V12 1.2 bar of pressure (which is quite a bit for any aftermarket turbo system). What I like most about this conversion is that the beautiful exterior lines of the car remain largely unchanged, it hasn’t been decked out in superfluous wings and body add-ons. You can read all about it over at the GTROC blog.

Car vs. motorcycle vs. boat
Cool video, a race between a boat, motorcycle, and car (as seen on Fifth Gear TV). The result is pretty much as you’d expect, but it’s still a neat video to watch…click here for it.

Three-seat Ferrari F1 car
Want a ride in an F1 car, but you can’t drive worth a darn? If you’ve got connections in Marnello, work on getting a ride in this new three seat Ferrari F1 demonstration car (no, there’s no race series, this car is just for publicity purposes!). More info, and a picture, here at NSXprime.

Desktop Decoy
The weather locally is sunny, about 70 degrees. Perfect driving weather, it’s time to get out and enjoy some great roads! But, what about work? The clever advertising folk at Mini have come to the rescue, offering their Desktop Decoy Screensaver (enable popups in your browser to load this). It’s a fairly elaborate deal, with customizable features such as typing noises, coughing, spreadsheets, even streaming video conferencing. Cool!
