What to do when your Porsche Carrera GT just isn’t fast enough
You think that, after spending $440,000, most people would be happy with the performance of a Carrera GT. Its 605hp V10 motor will propel the car to 60mph in less than four seconds, on its way to a 205mph top speed. Of course, there are some people for whom it’s never enough, and for them, we have companies like Gemballa, the famous German company known of its modified Porsches. With the Carrera GT, Gemballe lowered the compression ratio, added twin turbochargers, and are expecting to produce over 1000hp (note – the 1k hp club is a rapidly growing segment, expect to see many more cars join those ranks in the next year or two). Other modifications include a six speed sequential racing transmission, upgraded clutch, wheels and brakes, and more importantly, some radical aerodynamic changes to provide stability at its expected 250mph top speed. All this at the princely sum of 1.5 million Euros. Click here for a full page scanned article about the car from DuPont Registry.
